Myotherapy is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal ailments. It has a high focus on manual therapy in order to help retain and maintain joint and muscle integrity and range of movement.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) MASSAGE

MLD is an extremely light form of massage that is used for a variety of reasons. Using only circular and pumping actions it is aimed at encouraging the flow of lymphatic fluid to flow faster through the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is our body’s defence, or immune system which protects us from disease. It is always on guard, and can get sluggish at times. It is already a very slow moving system (unlike the circulatory system it doesn’t have a heart to push the fluid around the body) but when we add things like hay-fever or lack of exercise it can slow down even more. 

MLD can be beneficial:

· After surgery where lymph nodes have been removed (for example after a mastectomy where lymph nodes are commonly removed). You must have approval from your oncologist to get this done.
· Before and after surgery to reduce swelling
· If you have lymphedema or lipoedema
· At the end of a cold or flu
· For hay-fever

Typically a lymphatic drainage session is a 90 minute session. It is ideal to have this 90 minutes for your first time. This a full body sequence. After the first treatment we can assess whether you need 90 minute sessions or shorter. Treatment can be tailored to your needs.
